Council Rock South Marching Band WINS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS!
The Council Rock South Marching Band is now the 2016 US Bands Group IV-A NATIONAL CHAMPION!
Following an impressive win at the Pennsylvania State Championships, The Council Rock South Marching Band has won the Group IV-A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS! The very best bands in this nation-wide division competed for this coveted title at J. Birney Crum Stadium, in Allentown, PA. With a moving performance of their 2016 production entitled “A Brave New World,” Council Rock South came out on top with a winning score of 96.175. The South Band also won the awards for “Best Overall Effect,” “Best Visual,” and for the second year in a row “Best Colorguard!” Council Rock South was also honored to receive the Cadets "Award of Excellence" for only the second time in the school’s history! Your South Marching Band members are now STATE AND NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!
On Saturday, October 29th, The Council Rock South Marching Band was named Group IV-A STATE CHAMPIONS at the US Bands PA State Championships held at West Chester University. South was also honored to receive the Cadets "Award of Excellence," a prestigious award given by the judges for the most creative and excellent show at the State Championships! South competed with 26 other bands in order to earn this coveted prize! Council Rock South earned an impressive score of 94.388 and won caption awards for “Best Visual” and “Best Music.”
The Council Rock South Marching Band began their competitive season on Saturday, October 1st at North Penn High School. South won their division with a score of 84.7, and also won caption awards for Best Overall Effect, Best Music, and Best Percussion. The Band hosted the annual Council Rock Invitational at Walt Snyder Stadium, on Saturday October 8th performing in exhibition. On Saturday October 15th, south came out on top of their division again at Central Bucks South High School, with a score of 83.875 winning awards for “Best Overall Effect,” “Best Colorguard,” and “Best Percussion.” Late that same day, the band was one of only 2 bands to earn a rating of “Superior” at the William Tennent Celebration of Bands. South once again earned the award for “Best Colorguard.” On Saturday, October 22nd Council Rock South was the only Band to earn a rating of “Superior” at the Neshaminy Kaleidoscope of Bands. South also won awards for “Best Marching,” “Best Colorguard,” “Best Percussion,” and “Best Overall Effect.”

The 80+ members of the Council Rock South Marching Band rehearse after school 3 nights a week, and perform at all football games. Many marching band students manage to earn top grades in Honors and AP Courses, while balancing this busy schedule. The South Marching band will perform an indoor concert on Wednesday, November 16th at 7:00 pm at Council Rock South. In addition, the band will perform in the Newtown Holiday Parade on Sunday, December 4th in Newtown, Pennsylvania.
