Police were called to investigate after a parent received an "unsettling" text message from a person pretending to be a Council Rock teacher, district officials said Wednesday. The text message asked for photographs to be sent for a classroom assignment, however, teachers in the district confirmed they sent no such message.

A district administrator notified local police, who determined the message was sent by a computer-generated number that cannot be tracked to a person.

Now, parents are being asked to be on alert for similar concerning messages.

The news was shared Wednesday by Council Rock Superintendent Robert Fraser. He said over the weekend, a parent received the mystery text message from an individual presenting as a Council Rock teacher. The person requested that the parent text back family photos, both group and solo, to be utilized as part of a classroom assignment, Fraser said.

However, once investigated, the actual classroom teacher knew nothing of such an assignment and confirmed they did not send the message.
