DA Findings Will Decide Guidance Counselor's Fate, Central Bucks Says
Marykate Blankenburg is on leave as authorities investigate a "threatening" and "violent" Facebook post made from her account Sunday.

The fate of a Central Bucks high school guidance counselor will not be decided until the District Attorney finishes its investigation, district officials said Wednesday.
Marykate Blankenburg, who works at Central Bucks High School West, has been on administrative leave since Monday as authorities investigate what district officials described as a ”violent” and “threatening” Facebook post from her account.
A Central Bucks School District spokesperson said the administration is waiting for the District Attorney’s findings before finalizing Blankenburg’s employment status. The investigation is being conducted by Montgomery County authorities, because Blankenburg resides there.

The post under investigation, shared Sunday on Facebook, read: “If my child cannot get to the Eagles game due to protestors, I will personally SHOOT every one of them. You’ve been warned idiots!!”
The post, referring to a ”die in” protest after the Eagles game, was then shared on Twitter by a user. An online firestorm and the subsequent investigation followed.

Blankenburg, when contacted by the Intelligencer newspaper Sunday, said the post was made by a child who got a hold of her iPad while she taught Sunday school.
In a statement Monday morning, Central Bucks School District Superintendent David Weitzel said the district responded with urgency after seeing the message allegedly posted by Blankenburg.
“The content of the post does not in any way reflect the beliefs or values of the Central Bucks School District,” Weitzel said.
