December Packed With Holiday Cheer At Newtown Theatre

Highlighting the month will be 9 holiday concerts and 16 screenings of classic holiday movies, including an grownups-only showing of "Elf."

NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — December is packed full of holiday cheer at the historic Newtown Theatre with nine holiday concerts and 16 screenings of classic holiday movies. Tickets for every event can be found at TheNewtownTheatre.com.

This year’s lineup includes:

  • “Yesterday Once More: A Tribute to the Carpenters Christmas Special” – Monday, December 9 at 3:00 p.m. This tribute show captures a true Carpenter’s concert experience. In addition to some Christmas songs, this show features timeless tunes such as Close to You, We’ve Only Just Begun, Top of the World and many more.
  • “The Bells of St. Mary’s” – Tuesday, December 10 at 3:00 & 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for everyone and are available at TheNewtownTheatre.com or the theatre box office starting 30 minutes before the movie (if not sold out). Sponsored by Attleboro Wealth Management .
  • “Holiday Hits with the Sassies – Wednesday, December 11 at 3:00 p.m. Get in the holiday spirit with everyone’s favorite holiday songs, old and new, sung by the multigenerational Sassies – Kate Nice, Cait Dailey and Peg Keller.
  • “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” – Wednesday, December 11 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for everyone and are available at TheNewtownTheatre.com or the theatre box office starting 30 minutes prior to the movie (if not sold out). Sponsored by Attleboro Wealth Management.
  • “From Broadway to Newtown PA: Holiday Edition” – Thursday, December 12 at 8:00 p.m. This intimate evening of Broadway music will feature Alysha Umphress (On The Town, American Idiot, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, Smokey Joe’s Cafe), Kyle Taylor Parker (Kinky Boots, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), and John Riddle (Phantom of the Opera, Frozen, The Visit, Evita) performing holiday favorites plus some Tony-award-winning hits from musicals both current and old. Accompanying them on piano will be Dan Micciche, conductor of the hit Broadway musical Wicked. Sponsored by Johnson Kendall & Johnson .
  • “Elf: Grownups-Only Screening” – Friday, December 13. Only elves 21 and older will be admitted. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. and the movie begins at 8:00 p.m. In the hour leading up to the movie, guests will enjoy one complimentary drink (beer, wine, canned cocktail, or a signature Elf-themed cocktail), free popcorn, a trivia contest, and a costume contest. Elf-themed prizes will be given for trivia winners, and the best-dressed elf will win a pair of free concert tickets. Tickets are only available online at TheNewtownTheatre.com .   • “A Very Valli Holiday” – Saturday, December 14 at 2:00 p.m. Hailed as the nation’s #1 tribute to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Lights Out sings all of Valli’s hits plus everyone’s favorite holiday classics.
  • “Holiday Dueling Pianos” – Saturday, December 14 at 8:00 p.m. This rollicking concert will feature local husband and wife pianists Steve and Jenni Luhmann playing sing-along holiday classics and more.
  • “Home Alone” – Sunday, December 15 at 9:00 a.m. Tickets are $5 for everyone and are available at TheNewtownTheatre.com or the theatre box office starting 30 minutes prior to the movie (if not sold out).

  • “Illuminated Classical Christmas Concert” – Tuesday, December 17 at 8:00 p.m. This one-of-a-kind concert will be illuminated by hundreds of elegant white lights and feature the Newtown Chamber Orchestra playing classical works and some well-known holiday songs.

  • “Christmas Hits & All-Time Classics with Chris Pinnella and his 12-Piece Orchestra” – Friday, December 20 at 8:00 p.m. Join powerhouse vocalist and platinum-selling recording artist Chris Pinnella (formerly of Trans-Siberian Orchestra) and his phenomenal 12-piece orchestra as they ring in the holiday season with everyone’s favorite Christmas classics and holiday hits.
