After abandoning an effort to open in Newtown, the famous pizzeria is now looking to open a restaurant in Lower Makefield.

The famous DeLorenzo’s Tomato Pies is looking to open a restaurant in Lower Makefield, according to reports.

The New Jersey-based pizzeria is looking to open on Yardley-Langhorne Road in Lower Makefield Township, the Yardley News reported. Plans for a 6,500 square-foot building have been proposed across the street from the Animal Healing Center, the publication said.

Last year, DeLorenzo’s abandoned an effort to open a location in Newtown Township on Newtown-Yardley Road at the site of the former Newtown Veterinary Hospital.

“My client has determined that the feasibility of the project is in question and because of the tremendous financial commitment that must be made to proceed, my client has elected to abandon the project,” the restaurant’s attorney wrote in a letter to Newtown Township last January.

De Lorenzo’s Tomato Pies are famous throughout the region. The pizzeria first opened in Trenton in 1947.
