Democrats Sweep To Victory In Newtown Area Municipal Races

The party posted wins in Newtown Township, Newtown Borough and Upper Makefield, while the Republicans won in Wrightstown.

NEWTOWN, PA — It was a good night for Democrats in the Newtown area.

The Democrats came close to winning every municipal race, sweeping to victory in Newtown Borough, Newtown Township and Upper Makefield.

In Newtown Township, incumbent Supervisors Elen Snyder and Phil Calabro won re-election, returning to the board for another six years.

In Newtown Borough, voters in the first ward elected Democrat Kris Bauman to a two year seat and Gail Foley to a four year seat on borough council. In ward two, voters gave the victory to Democrats Julia Woldorf and Josh Phillips who will serve on council for the next four years.

In Upper Makefield, Democrats Ben Weldon and Braun Taylor won election to the board of supervisors. They were running for two open six year seats.

The Republicans had one victory on Tuesday night to hang its hat on. And that was in Wrightstown Township where incumbent Robert Lloyd won re-election to the board of supervisors for another six-year term.
