The Steeple View bridge is just a concept, but the developer has already asked in confidence for opinions from Newtown BOS members (read more about that here) and the Borough Council announced a new timeline for the approval of the Steeple View project.

Survey Results to Date

I started a survey to gauge the opinion of Newtown area residents regarding these proposed bridges. As of 31 October 2024, 267 responses have been collected! 209 (78%) from Newtown Township residents, 43 (16%) from Newtown Borough residents. Over 160 comments have been submitted to date.. Read ALL the comments.

A summary of the ALL the results – including data regarding township v.s. borough residents' opinions – can be found on my website (read Township and Borough Residents Support Newtown Creek Pedestrian Bridges).

Meanwhile, at the December 12, 2023, Newtown Borough Council public meeting, which approved the Steeple View project, attorney Timothy J. Duffy, representing Steeple View, L.P., claimed that Newtown Township “still supports” the proposed pedestrian bridge. Listen to his comments in the following 10-minute video:
