Doylestown Firefighter Joins Career Ranks In Newtown

Newtown Fire Rescue welcomes its newest recruit during a swearing-in ceremony at the Newtown District Court.

NEWTOWN, PA — Newtown Fire Rescue welcomed its newest career firefighter to its staff on Thursday during a swearing in ceremony at the District Court in Newtown.

District Judge Mick Petrucci administered the oath to firefighter Sam Fleischer who joined the fire service as a junior at the age of 14 and has been surrounded by firefighters his entire life.

Fleischer comes to Newtown from the Doylestown area where he runs with Doylestown Fire Company No. 1. He also volunteers with the Bensalem Volunteer Fire Department under its stipend program.

The department's career firefighters and departmental leaders were on hand to welcome their newest recruit. Among those welcoming Fleischer to the company were Chief Glenn Forsyth, Assistant Chief Nicholas Weaver and Lieutenants Joe Martindell and Steve Katz.
