Drive-Through Starbucks Rejected In Newtown Township
A proposal for a drive-through Starbucks in Newtown Township has been rejected by the Board of Supervisors.

A drive-through Starbucks proposed in the Village at Newtown Shopping Center has been rejected by the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors.
The Board of Supervisors on Wednesday considered a conditional use application for the coffee shop. Starbucks was seeking to establish a drive-through location in the Village at Newtown West, adjacent to the relocated Bank of America.
It would have been the third Starbucks in Newtown. There are locations on State Street, as well as in the Acme grocery store. However, it would have been the first location with a drive-through window.

Ed Murphy, an attorney for Starbucks, told the supervisors the proposed coffee shop would be just over 1,900 square feet and have 41 seats. An additional 26 outdoor seats would be located in a contained area.
The vote to reject the plan was unanimous.

Supervisor Kyle Davis said it would crowd the shopping center.
Board chairman Phil Calabro agreed with Davis, saying the proposal squeezed too many buildings onto the shopping center site.
