Driver Arrested For Suspected DUI In Newtown Township
Police crackdown on trucks on the Newtown Bypass; 29 vehicles stopped; three taken out of service during detail.
NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between Dec. 6 and Dec. 10:
December 6
- At approximately 1 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Buick SUV for committing a vehicle code violation at the Newtown Bypass and Buck Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

- The Newtown-Makefield Truck Enforcement Unit conducted a commercial vehicle safety detail in at the Newtown Bypass and Lindenhurst Road in Newtown Township. The unit is made up of officers from Newtown Township, Newtown Borough and Upper Makefield. During the detail, 29 trucks were stopped and inspected. Three trucks were placed out of service, six citations and eight warnings were issued for violations that were found.
- At approximately 2 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Honda Civic for committing a vehicle code violation at Swamp Road and Twining Bridge Road. As a result of the investigation, a passenger was taken into custody on an active arrest warrant from Bucks County Adult Probation and transferred without incident.
