DUI Arrests, Impounded BMW Lead Newtown Township Police Report

Police also investigated several retail thefts at a store in the Village at Newtown.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between Jan. 26 and Jan. 31:

January 26

  • Police were dispatched to Ulta around 5:26 p.m. for the report of a retail theft that occurred on Jan 18. The investigation is ongoing.

  • At approximately 1:36 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet driver for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Sycamore Street. Upon speaking with the operator, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

January 29

  • At approximately 3 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a BMW driver for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Swamp Road and Short Lane. As a result of the traffic stop, the vehicle was impounded for the suspicion of containing narcotics. The investigation is ongoing.

January 31

  • At approximately 12:29 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a Ford operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Windy Bush Road and Pine Lane. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
  • Police were dispatched to Ulta around 5:30 p.m. for the report of a retail theft that occurred earlier that afternoon. The investigation is ongoing.
