DUI Charges, Burglary Investigation: Newtown Township Police Report
Police also conduct a truck safety detail and investigate a theft of services report.
NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between Feb. 9 and Feb. 22:
February 9
- At approximately 2:45 p.m. police were dispatched to a business located on Swamp Road for the report of fraud involving a counterfeit check. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

- At approximately 4:27 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet pickup truck operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Swamp Road and Liberty Drive. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered and seized as evidence. The driver was placed under arrest and charges are pending.
February 12
- At approximately 3:50 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a Volkswagen sedan for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Diamond Drive and Buck Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver refused to perform field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. The operator also refused to submit blood for chemical testing, and charges are pending.
February 18

- At approximately 8:18 a.m. police were dispatched to a Newtown Township residence for the report of a suspicious circumstance. Arriving officers discovered evidence of a burglary. An investigation is ongoing..
.February 19
- A Newtown Township business contacted police around 4:52 pm to report the theft of services. An investigation is ongoing.
February 20
- At approximately 2:38 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a Toyota operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Buck Road and Mill Pond Drive. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered and seized as evidence. The driver was arrested and charges are pending.
February 21
- The Newtown-Makefield Truck Enforcement Unit conducted a commercial vehicle safety detail on River Road in Upper Makefield. The unit is made up of officers from Newtown Borough, Newtown Township and Upper Makefield. During the detail, nine trucks were stopped and inspected. One truck was placed out of service and two citations and two warnings were issued for violations that were found.
- Police were dispatched to a business located on State Street at approximately 3:30 p.m. for the report of a fraud involving an altered check. The investigation is ongoing.
February 22
- At approximately 2:42 p,m, police were dispatched to the area of Linton Hill Road and Washington Crossing Road for the report of a single-vehicle traffic accident. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
