NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — DUI charges are pending against six motorists stopped by police in Newtown Township. Police also cited an incoherent subject on Sycamore Street with public intoxication.
September 16
- At approximately 1 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a Nissan Rogue operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Eagle and Durham roads. Upon contact with the operator, the officer detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
- At approximately 2 a.m. police were dispatched for the report of a single-vehicle traffic accident in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Lindenhurst Road. Upon contact with the operator, the officer detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
- At approximately 8:45 pm police were dispatched for a two-vehicle traffic accident in the area of Fountain Farm Lane and Martin Court. Upon contact with one of the operators, the officer detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Suspected narcotics were also discovered and seized as evidence. The operator refused to submit blood for chemical testing. Charges are pending.

Upon contact with the operator, the officer detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
- While on routine patrol in the area of North Sycamore Street, patrol observed an incoherent subject around 10:30 p.m. As a result of the investigation, the subject was cited for public intoxication.

- At approximately 11:15 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a Ford Focus operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Justice Drive. Upon contact with the operator, the officer detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
