DUI, Drug Charges Pending Against Drivers In Newtown Township

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between March 7 and 14:
Thursday, March 7
- At approximately 3:25 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a Ford van operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Campus Drive. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered and seized as evidence. The driver of the vehicle and a passenger were arrested. Charges are pending.
- At approximately 10:27 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Silverado operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Buck Road and W. Village Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

- At approximately 9:58 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a Ford truck driver for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Newtown Gate Drive. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered and seized as evidence. The operator of the vehicle and a passenger, who had open warrants, were arrested. Charges are pending.
