NEWTOWN, PA — A fire killed a 77-year-old Newtown Grant woman early Monday morning. The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission announced that it is exploring the replacement of the 119-year-old Washington Crossing Bridge. And at midweek, the township announced that construction could begin soon on Newtown's first Wawa store at Lower Silver Lake Road and the Newtown Bypass.

NEWTOWN, PA — An early morning fire on Monday claimed the life a 77-year-old woman in the Newtown Grant development. Firefighters from six companies responded to the scene just after 4:30 a.m. As a result of the fire, Newtown Fire Rescue personnel launched a smoke detector campaign in Newtown Grant and on Mahogany Circle.

Commission Exploring Replacement Of Washington Crossing Bridge

UPPER MAKEFIELD, PA — At midweek, the community learned that the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission is exploring the possibility of replacing the 119-year-old Washington Crossing Bridge. Earlier this year, the commission posted a request for proposal to conduct a multi-year environmental review before a new bridge could be designed and built.

Wawa Construction Expected Soon in Newtown Township

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Township officials announced that land clearing and construction of Newtown's first Wawa could begin soon. Officials reported that Provco Pinegood LLC is in the process of finalizing its land development plan and may soon start construction at Lower Silver Lake Road and the Newtown Bypass.
