Former Newtown Township Supervisor Announces He'll Run Again
Rob Ciervo has announced his bid to run as a Republican candidate for the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors.

Rob Ciervo, a former Newtown Township Supervisor, has announced his bid to run again as a Republican candidate for the local board.
Ciervo, who served on the Board of Supervisors from 2008 through Dec. 2013, was chairman twice.
As a supervisor, Ciervo was known for his focus on reducing spending, negotiating labor contracts and fighting to uphold Newtown’s zoning laws while protecting its open space. He also was a leader in the effort to make way for the skate park in Newtown.

“Ciervo is interested in returning to the board to ensure that the Lockheed Martin site is redeveloped properly and the zoning remains Office/Research to minimize traffic impact of the site and to ensure that good high quality jobs replace those that will be lost when Lockheed Martin winds down its operation on the site on the Newtown Bypass,” according to a statement from Ciervo’s campaign.
“During his tenure on the board he was involved in the redevelopment of the old Acme site and voted to approve the Promenade mixed use building that is currently going up on Sycamore Street in the business district after seeking compromises with the developer on the size and height of the building,” the statement continued.

In 2007, Ciervo ran for a seat on the five-member Newtown Township Board of Supervisors and won the Republican primary as an unendorsed challenger. He went on to win the general election.
Ciervo was born and raised in Bucks County and attended Council Rock schools. He graduated from Council Rock High School in 1986. He lives in the Newtown Grant section of the township with his wife, Cindy, and his three children.
He is the Director of the Learning Center at Rutgers University, Camden and the chairman of a non-profit group that raises money for pancreatic cancer research.
Shawn Keen, a longtime resident of Newtown Township and volunteer firefighter with the Newtown Fire Association, will serve as the campaign chairman for Citizens for Ciervo. Former Newtown Township Auditor and Republican Committeewoman Margaret Chleboski will serve as the campaign treasurer.
The primary election is May 19.
