Newtown Irish Festival Is This Week: What You Need To Know

The annual Newtown Irish Festival will be held Thursday, March 16 through Sunday, March 19.

The 7th annual Newtown Irish Festival is this week at the Green Parrot. The four-day party kicks off Thursday and will feature live music, Irish dancing, traditional Irish food, a 5K, kid-friendly activities and more.

The Irish Festival will begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday, March 16 and will continue through the weekend. The Shamrock Shuffle 5K race will be held on Saturday, March 18.

Thursday, March 16

The festival kicks off with a “Very Irish Evening” Concert under the heated tent at 6 p.m. with Blackthorn accompanied by “The Man of a Thousand Voices,” Joe Conklin. Musician Mike Shackleton will perform in the restaurant from 7 to 11 p.m.

Friday, March 17

Live music begins at 11 a.m. in the restaurant with Ray Coleman followed by Ireland’s own Seamus Kelleher. Music, face painting, balloon twisting and Irish step dancing begins under the Green Parrot tent at 1 p.m., where Clancy’s Pistol will perform followed by the Jim Milligan band from 6 to 10 p.m.

Saturday, March 18

The 2nd annual Shamrock Shuffle 5K race will be held Saturday morning. Following the race, Juliano Brothers will make their Newtown Irish Festival debut, followed by Jamison Celtic Rock band. In the restaurant, Seamus McGroary, Keep the Change Band and DJ ESG will perform.

Sunday, March 19

Ray Coleman, Keep The Change Duo and Seamus McGroary will perform in the restaurant. The Secret Service Band will be under the tent from noon to 4 p.m. and Go Go Gadjet will wrap up the festival under the tent from 5 to 9 p.m.
