Four New Businesses Coming Soon To The Village At Newtown

A crab cake company, a clothing store for 20-somethings, a collection of salon studios and a stretch lab will be opening at the center.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Four new businesses will be opening their doors in the Village at Newtown shopping center on Eagle Road.

Bobby Chez Famous Crab Cakes, Free People, Sola Salon and StretchLab have leased space at the shopping center anchored by McCaffrey’s Market, Ulta Beauty, Harvest Seasonal Grill and Iron House Brewery.

New Jersey-based Bobby Chez Famous Crab Cakes has leased a 1,000 square foot space next to Trinity Rehab at the former site of Factory Donuts.

Bobby's four retail stores in Cherry Hill, Collingswood, Washington Township/Sewell and Delran, New Jersey, are unlike any other "to go" concept around. They feature a variety of gourmet prepared seafood specialties and side dishes made fresh every day.

According to its website, seafood is purchased fresh from the seafood market every morning and nothing sold is more than one day old. Each day the freshly-prepared food is trucked out to each location.

Bobby’s sells seafood partially-cooked and gives each customer reheating instructions to finish their meal at home. Each store also serves fully/cooked food for takeout or eat in. Bobby now ships his crab cakes, Smashed Burgers and other seafood specialties nationally each week through his online grocery store.

The first Bobby Chez Seafood Specialties store opened in 1997 in Voorhees, NJ. The store's signature Jumbo Lump Crabcake quickly became famous winning multiple state and regional awards. Twenty years later, sales volume has leapt to about 30,000 crab cakes per week sold.

Free People

Free People, which is owned by Philadelphia-based Urban Outfitters, has leased 2,600 square feet of retail space next to lululemon Pop Up.

Free People is a retail boutique offering a selection of women’s apparel, intimate wear, shoes and accessories.

The contemporary lifestyle brand is inspired by vintage fashions from the 1960s and 1970s. The boutique carries everything from classic denim like Levi’s, to dresses for all occasions.

In 2001, Free People shed its junior image and evolved into a more mature, contemporary brand, according to its website. This allowed 20-something women to appreciate the line of clothing that caters to their intelligence, creativity and individuality, while keeping with its great quality and affordability.

“The store is geared toward the 26-year-old girl - smart, creative, confident and comfortable in all aspects of her being, free and adventurous, sweet to tough to tomboy to romantic,” says the website. “A girl who likes to keep busy and push life to its limits, with traveling and hanging out and everything in between. Who loves Donovan as much as she loves The Dears, and can't resist petting any dog that passes her by on the street.”

Free People has four wholesale showrooms in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and London. Today its line sells in more than 1,400 specialty stores worldwide. Some department stores, such as Nordstrom and Bloomingdales, have created in-store concept shops to enhance the beauty of the
clothes, and provide their customers with the quintessential Free People experience.

“In them, our aesthetic is immediately apparent. There is a vibrant and cozy lounging area, where customers can sit back and soak up the lovely surroundings. And all of the Free People fixtures are handmade, right down to the crocheted hangers.”

Free People opened its first boutique in Paramus, New Jersey in the fall of 2002. It now has boutiques throughout the United States, as well as Canada, and the number is continuing to grow.

Sola Salons

Sola Salons, a premier salon studios concept for established salon professionals, is leasing 7,600 square feet of space next to KO Modern Korean Cuisine and the Learning Express.

It will feature a collection of boutique, move-in-ready salon studios with floor-to-ceiling walls and glass doors that fully close. This unique layout and intentional design allows stylists to operate their individual businesses in the safety of a completely private one-on-one space.

StretchLab

StretchLab, an assisted stretching facility, is leasing a 1,825 square foot space previously occupied by Light RX next door to Turning Point.

According to Drew Dickinson, a principal of StretchLab, the low impact use will employ a team of flexologists who will lead stretching exercises aimed at improving health and wellness.

“It’s all by appointment. You come in and you’re stretched according to what ailments you might have,” said Dickinson. “If you have lower back pain there are certain stretches for that.”

At any given time, there will be 12 to 15 flexologists on site working with clients in the 10 bed facility.

“People can come in - it can be young people, old people,” said Dickinson. “They may be athletes who are looking to put on a couple miles per hour or people who haven’t been able to touch their toes and they are trying to get that range in motion back. There are also lots of different benefits to stretching like stress relief.”
