Fracking Regulation Ordinance Proposed In Newtown Township: Report

Municipalities cannot ban fracking, but they can regulate where it happens and the township is looking to do just that if the ban is lifted.

Despite a moratorium on fracking in the Delaware River Basin, Newtown Township officials are moving to ensure they can have some control over fracking if the moratorium is lifted.

The Bucks County Courier Times reports the township's planning commission moved Tuesday to advertise fracking regulations in the township.

In proposing the ordinance, residents told the planning commission to hold off on the recommendation in order to make it stronger, the outlet reports.
