Fraud Cases, DUI Arrest Headline Newtown Township Police Report

Driver arrested on suspicion of DUI; small amount of suspected marijuana seized as evidence by police.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between April 21 and 27:

April 21

  • A Newtown Township resident reported an incident of fraud involving a stolen credit card. The bank closed the account and resolved the incident.

  • At approximately 9:45 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a Honda Civic driver for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Buck Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of burnt marijuana. As a result of the investigation, a small amount of suspected marijuana was discovered and seized as evidence. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

  • A Newtown Township resident reported an incident of fraud involving several unauthorized purchases on their debit card. The investigation is ongoing.

  • A Newtown Township resident reported an incident of fraud. The resident explained that she went on her computer to apply for a passport and used a website named easyformsfiller.com. She provided all of her information and then became suspicious when the site charged her a different price. She then looked up reviews and saw that other people had been scammed through the site. She contacted the credit bureaus to freeze her accounts and did not suffer a monetary loss.
  • Police were dispatched to a business on Terry Drive for the report of a theft by an employee. The investigation is ongoing.
