Free Rita's Italian Ice Marks First Day Of Spring In Newtown

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard at 12 Swamp Road in Newtown will welcome the first day of spring by giving away a tasty treat on Friday, March 20 from 12 to 9 p.m.

The Bucks County-based iconic frozen treats destination — with locations throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey — is offering a free six-ounce Italian Ice giveaway in the available flavor of their choice, said Mitchell Cove, who has owned and operated the Newtown franchise for 35 years.

"We're going to welcome spring with a free cup of water ice to anyone who shows up," said Cove. "We will have all the tried and true favorites - mango, cherry, lemon, cotton candy, mint chocolate chip, and wild black cherry, just to name a few."

Rita's is also teaming up on Friday with the iconic marshmallow treat brand to introduce a new Mystery PEEPS Italian Ice Flavor. Inspired by a tasty PEEPS flavor, the limited time offering, launching on March 20, delivers the unmistakable marshmallow sweetness fans know and love, but reimagined as a refreshing Italian Ice with a secret flavor twist!

Rita’s is also adding a PEEPS Marshmallow Chick topper to its lineup this spring. The iconic marshmallow treat delivers a playful pop of sweetness and can be added to any Rita’s treat for a fun, festive finish.

To make the mystery even more fun, from Friday, March 20, through Sunday, March 29, Rita’s is inviting fans to put their taste buds to the test with the Mystery PEEPS Italian Ice Flavor Guessing Contest.

The Mystery Italian Ice will be served as a white Italian Ice, with its flavor profile kept completely under wraps — encouraging guests to taste, guess, and join the excitement. Fans can submit their flavor guess online at ritasice.com/peeps for a chance to win exclusive prizes.
