Friday 'Taste of Summer' Event To Benefit BCCC

Friday's event "will be a celebration of the sun, the sand, the surf, and the coastal lifestyle," organizers said.

Bucks County Community College will host the Tyler Taste of Summer event this Friday, June 7. The event is an updated edition of the annual Tyler Tasting Party.

"This year’s edition, Tyler Taste of Summer – Crab Fest, will be a celebration of the sun, the sand, the surf, and the coastal lifestyle," the college announced.

The event will feature a classic seaside-style crab fest and live music by Beach Boys tribute band, Still Surfin’.

“This year we decided to go in different direction with the event,” explained Andrew States, coordinator of Foundation and College Events. “We wanted reinvigorate it by taking an event that was always well liked, and make it an event that guests would love, by creating a fresh and contemporary evening.”

The event is a fundraiser for the Bucks County Community College Foundation. Proceeds will support scholarships, campus initiatives, and historic preservation of Tyler Hall, the 89-year-old historic mansion on the Newtown Campus.

"Each year, going forward, the Tyler Taste of Summer will be themed to capture the casual spirit of sunny climes and mild weather," according to organizers.

The evening begins with a cocktail hour in the Tyler Gardens, followed by the crab fest and chicken barbecue, with beer, wine, cocktails, and dancing. It goes from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, June 7 on the campus at 275 Swamp Rd., Newtown.

Tickets are $125 each.
