George School Golf Wins League Championship

Senior Kellie Edelblut was the second-lowest scorer with 74 and senior Greg Cohen shot 76 during the Friends Schools League (FSL) championship tournament.

Kudos to George School varsity golf players. The 10-member coed team on Monday won its third consecutive Friends Schools League championship title.

The team shot 333 to take the title. Senior Kellie Edelblut was the second-lowest scorer with 74 and senior Greg Cohen shot 76 during the Friends Schools League (FSL) championship tournament.

The 333 was the lowest score George School golfers have ever shot at the FSL championships. The championship was played on the par 68 Bala Golf Club in Philadelphia.

George School coach Chip Poston praised his team members, particularly seniors Kellie Edelblut, Greg Cohen, and Kevin Simone.

“I am so proud of the accomplishments of this team,” Poston said. “The level of play has grown consistently stronger in the Friends League, yet our team has continued to come out on top.”

Poston said Kellie Edelblut, of New Hope, has had an “amazing” career at George School, shooting the low score in nine of the team’s 13 contests this season. Edelblut plans to play Division I golf next year at The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va.

“This team has been a pleasure to coach, and I am thrilled by their success,” the coach said.
