George School Presents Twelve Angry Jurors

George School presents Twelve Angry Jurors on November 6 and 7 at 8:00 p.m. in Walton Center. The show is free and open to the public.

The George School Arts Department will present Twelve Angry Jurors on Friday and Saturday, November 6 and 7 at 8:00 p.m. in Walton Center Auditorium. With an outstanding cast of young performers, a set designed by Stagecraft students, and costumes by Linda Bee, the show promises to be a hit. Don’t miss this free performance that offers nonstop fascinating debate and discussion.

Set on a humid August afternoon in Brooklyn, the show follows twelve jurors as they deliberate the fate of a young man accused of murdering his father.

“The show is an hour and a half of nonstop fascinating debate and discussion,” said Sydney Johnson ’17. “I play Juror #10, a lower class racist bigot who is very opinionated and stubborn. I’ve never played a character that I’ve had such a hard time understanding. She is hot-headed and close-minded—two things that I try very hard in my life to avoid being.”

Sydney, like all the actors, was assigned a role that would be difficult for her to portray so that she would be forced to explore the tension that arises from such a casting decision. Despite these challenges, the cast has come together brilliantly providing a behind the scenes look at the tension in a jury deliberation room.

“Never before have I seen a cast work so hard to make an hour and a half so interesting,” continued Sydney. “This cast is small and intimate, and the work we have done this term is clearly evident. I’m very proud of how far we’ve come and ready to share it with an audience.”
