George School Students Earn 100 Percent IB Diploma Success

One hundred percent of the George School International Baccalaureate Diploma candidates earned a diploma from the prestigious organization.

One hundred percent of the George School International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma candidates have earned a diploma from the prestigious international organization. The forty-two diploma candidates earned an average score of 32.4, well above the world average.

“This was the most diverse IB class we have ever had, and collectively one of the most deeply affiliated with the school in my view,” shared IB Coordinator, Ralph Lelii. “Both the success rate and the average score are well above the world average—this is an amazing outcome.”

George School students who pursue an International Baccalaureate Diploma are part of an exceptional group of young men and women from across the globe who choose to complete the rigorous course of study. First offered at George School in 1984, the program requires students to take courses in six subject areas, three for higher level credit and three for standard level credit, culminating in six extensive examinations.

“It’s truly amazing to feel like those two years of hard work paid off,” shared Qudsiyyah Shariyf ’15. “It’s great to have something to show for my dedication to the IB program and I can’t wait to get the physical diploma in the mail. I’m so grateful to have been a part of it and I’m excited to see how the IB will help me in the next chapter of my intellectual journey—college.” Qudsiyyah will attend the University of Chicago next fall.

Founded in 1893 by members of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), George School, a rigorous coed boarding and day school for grades nine through twelve, educates students from more than twenty-three states, fifty-four foreign countries, and a variety of ethnic, racial, religious, and economic backgrounds. Through its commitment to diversity and the Quaker values of equality, integrity, and peacemaking, George School inspires students to be led by their own truths while respecting and appreciating opinions and beliefs different from their own. George School was one of the first schools in the United States to implement an International Baccalaureate diploma program.
