GNEC Announces Two Students Of The Month for First Quarter 2017
Marget D'Auria and Garbrielle Sheperd received The Greater Newtown Exchange Club's Student of the Month Award.
The Greater Newtown Exchange Club (GNEC) honored two Council Rock North High School seniors with GNEC’s coveted Student of the Month (SOM) Award at the Club’s first quarter meetings.
Gabrielle Sheperd was GNEC’s Student of the Month for January. In addition to being a Distinguished Honor Roll student, Sheperd has taken part in numerous community activities including raising funds for the Lauren K. Talbot Memorial Fund and helping run monthly meetings and raise money for SHARE (Students Helping Residents Effectively). She has also participated in field hockey, winter track and Lacrosse and received awards and recognition in those sports. Her club and honors involvement includes Rho Kappa social studies honor society, Spanish Honors Society, National Honors Society, FBLA (Future business leaders of America), attendance at Keystone Girls State where she held numerous positions and participation in student government. Her goal is to attend a service academy and earn a degree in engineering—preferably aerospace or mechanical with an eventual goal of becoming a career military officer. Sheperd’s family, friends, teammates and coaches are the important people in her life and she plans to remain in contact with them as she progresses to adulthood.
Margaret DiAuria received GNEC’s Student of the Month award for March. While at Council Rock North, DiAuria volunteered as a Lacrosse coach, participated in SHARE and was involved with the Autism Cares Foundation. She was Council Rock North Student of the Month in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 and Distinguished Honor Roll Student in grades 9 through 11 as well as receiving a National Merit Scholarship. Her club activity includes Student Council, Lacrosse Club, Mathletes, E3, Mu Alpha Theta, Rho Kappa, National Honor Society and Science National Honor Society. Family, friends and health are the important factors in her life.

Her goals include majoring in an engineering field and she wants to do her part in promoting clean energy use for the planet. DiAuria has already been accepted to Pitt and Penn State but is also keeping an eye on Michigan, Maryland, Notre Dame and Johns Hopkins.
