Grange Fair Opening Day: Market Hogs To 'Squeal' The Show
Newtown School of Rock to open five days of live entertainment on Wednesday evening at the Wrightstown fairgrounds.

WRIGHTSTOWN, PA — The Middletown Grange Fair opens its five-day run on Wednesday, August 16 with the spotlight on rabbits, poultry, llamas, alpacas, and market hogs.
The cute and cuddly rabbit and cavy show opens the fair at 10 a.m. in the show arena. The public is invited to watch as a 4-H judge rates this year's batch of carrot-loving bunnies.
Also at 10 a.m., a modified poultry show will take place inside the poultry barn.

Unfortunately, due to an avian flu alert issued by the state, chickens and roosters won't be appearing at this year's fair. But you can still show your support for the 4-H kids during the modified show.
At 3:30 p.m., the llamas and alpacas will enter the show arena for judging. And at 6 p.m. this year's Market Hog Show takes place inside the goat, sheep, and pig barn. Visitors can expect a lot of "squealing."

Throughout the day there will be storytime sessions and crafts for the kids; mule demonstrations and opportunities to Meet the Belgians; horse-drawn wagon rides (fee); and plenty of opportunities to watch the hot dog pig races.
You don't miss the two large buildings filled with community and 4-H exhibits, including tables filled with freshly-grown vegetables and fruit,
In the evening, attention turns to the entertainment tent. Rockin' the venue will be students from the Newtown School of Rock. They will be performing from 7 to 10 p.m.
Fair Hours on Wednesday, August 16 (Opening Day): 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Admission: No admission to the fair. There is a $20 per car parking fee. A 5-day pass will be available for $50. Veterans can park for free (with ID).
Weather Forecast: Partly sunny. The high temperature is forecast to reach 86 degrees. There is only a 25 percent chance of precipitation.
Amusement Rides: Hours are Wednesday to Friday from 1 to 10 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 12 to 5 p.m. Rides are $2/ticket (The number of tickets needed per ride varies from 1 to 3 per ride.) each, 12 for $20, 23 for $50 and 64 for $100. A mega pass is available for $50 for all rides, every day. A special all-ride bracelet will also be sold for $30 on Wednesday from 6 to 10 p.m. and $30 for Sunday from 12 to 5 p.m.
Rules: Dogs will not be allowed unless it is a service dog. This is for the safety of you, the public, the exhibitors, and the livestock at the fair. No alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs are permitted on Grange property. No vulgar language or behavior is permitted on Grange property. And all children must be supervised by an adult.
