'All Is Calm' At Council Rock North, Superintendent Says Following Gun Rumors
A rumor circulating on social media that someone was bringing a gun to North has left parents confused and on high alert.

All was "very calm" and the day was progressing as normal at Council Rock North Thursday afternoon, Superintendent Robert Frasier told parents in an email around noon.
That was about five hours after an initial message letting parents know about an alarming rumor that had been swirling on social media that a student was planning to bring a gun to school. That message, delivered around 7 a.m., sparked confusion and chaos among parents, with many opting to keep their students home due to safety concerns.

The rumors of an alleged threat have not been determined as credible, Frasier said.
Frasier, in the message to parents, said police spoke with "several" students as part of the investigation. "No student has indicated having firsthand knowledge of a threat being made. Rather, each student interviewed has indicated hearing it from someone else."

Throughout the day Thursday, there was additional police presence at the school and officers continued to investigate.
Sources tell Patch the rumors were circulated through SnapChat. The rumors were vague and only indicated someone was bringing a gun to the school Thursday. No images of specific students or names of students were included in the social media communications in question.
However, many parents were rattled enough by the rumors to keep their kids home for the day. The school was technically open, but parents tell Patch there were very few students there. Some parents told Patch they were under the impression school was closed.
Other parents expressed frustration about how the information was communicated by the district administration. The initial communication was a brief, four-sentence email delivered at 7:06 a.m., and some parents report receiving it after they had already sent their children to school.
This is a breaking story, check back for updates.
