NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Chef Ashni “Baba” Kumar and Priya Trivedi have announced Guru’s Indian Cuisine in Newtown has shifted to a “takeout only” operation beginning immediately.

The couple recently took back ownership of the Indian restaurant from their nephew, Samarth Joshi, after they returned from India following the successful adoption of two young sisters from their homeland.

The move to takeout only is the first step in the couple’s plans to move their popular Indian eatery to a new, more affordable location.

“203 N. Sycamore Street has been our home for exactly ten years on Wednesday, August 20, but despite our best efforts, it has become increasingly difficult to secure the refinancing needed to maintain this location. For now, we will continue with takeout only, holding onto what we can and doing our best to keep this dream alive,” explained Priya. “This is not goodbye. This is just a pause and a deep breath before we restart the engines in a new home for Guru’s in the coming months.”
