NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department responded to the following calls between Oct. 17 and 20:
October 17
- At approximately 3:30 p.m. a Newtown Township resident reported a fraud involving someone who claimed to hack their iCloud account and demanded a ransom. The resident paid the ransom before realizing it was a scam, but quickly filed a dispute and did not suffer a monetary loss.

- At approximately 9 a.m. a Newtown Township resident reported a scam involving a fake email that appeared to be from PayPal, fishing for personal information. The resident called the phone number provided in the email and quickly realized it was a scam.
- At 7:15 p.m. a Newtown Township resident contacted police to report the theft of political signs. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
October 19
- At approximately 5:15 a.m. police were dispatched to a Newtown Township residence for the report of an attempted catalytic converter theft. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
