Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued Ahead Of 'Heavy' Weekend Rain: NWS

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Eastern Pennsylvania ahead of heavy rain and frequent storms expected throughout the weekend.

"Showers and thunderstorms mainly this afternoon and tonight will produce heavy rain at times, potentially leading to localized flooding," the National Weather Service said of Saturday.

Then, on Sunday, some showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon will produce "heavy rain at times, potentially leading to localized flooding."

Saturday: Isolated showers before noon, then scattered showers and thunderstorms between noon and 3 p.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 3 p.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 85. East wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tonight: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 2 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 a.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Cloudy, with a low around 71. Southeast wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

The wet weather could continue through Monday, the forecast says.

Sunday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 11am, then showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 2 p.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. Southeast wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Sunday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely before midnight, then a chance of showers. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. East wind around 6 mph becoming calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Monday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 87. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Monday Night: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 68. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
