Hearing on Eating Disorder Bill to Be Held Monday in Newtown

The House Democratic Policy Committee will hold a public hearing on an eating disorder bill Monday at the Chancellor Center in Newtown.
State Rep. Steve Santarsiero will serve as co-chairman of the hearing along with House Democratic Policy Committee Chairman Mike Sturla. The hearing begins at 2 p.m.
The meeting will focus on legislation proposed by Santarsiero that would require school districts to share information and resources about eating disorders with parents of children in fifth through 12th grades.

“This legislation would go a long way in helping parents understand that an eating disorder can take many forms across different ages,” he said. “Many parents have expressed that they missed the early warning signals and did not appreciate how serious an eating disorder can become. Our goal is to improve the access to appropriate information to parents of school-age boys and girls.”
