Hearing On Proposed Buck Road Development Continues Thursday

A hearing on the Arcadia Green application will continue Thursday, Sept. 13 at the Newtown Township Building.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — A hearing on the Arcadia Green application will continue Thursday, Sept. 13 at the Newtown Township Building.

The controversial housing development proposal seeks to construct 76 residential units (23 single-family detached houses and 53 single-family attached townhomes) on 22 acres off the Newtown Bypass at Buck Road.

This is a new proposal that was submitted after the township denied a previous application last December. The previous proposal included 85 housing units, as well as a soccer field, community garden, and dog park.

The project has been opposed by members of the Newtown Crossing and Eagle Ridge neighborhoods due to traffic and safety concerns. When the project was previously rejected, residents in attendance at the hearing gave a hearty round of applause at that meeting.

Thursday's hearing, a continuation from August, gets underway at 5:30 p.m. The Newtown Township Building is located at 100 Municipal Dr, Newtown.
