Help Pack The Patrol Car At Events In Newtown And Upper Makefield
Collection drives in both townships will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29 to benefit the Shop With A Cop program.
NEWTOWN, PA — Police in Newtown and Upper Makefield townships invite the community to help "Pack the Patrol Car" on Saturday, Oct. 29 in support of Shop With A Cop.
In Newtown Township, officers will be at the ACME grocery store between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. accepting donations as part of the drive.
They will be collecting wrapping paper, gift wrapping supplies, scotch tape, name tags, bows, gift bags and tissue paper, stockings and personal care and hygiene products, including soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner, deodorant and non-expired canned food items.

Through Shop with a Cop, children facing financial or personal challenges are taken on a holiday shopping spree by police officers. During the event, the children are provided with $200 to shop for themselves and for family members. They are assisted by police officers who act as chaperones and companions during the shopping experience.
In Upper Makefield, a Pack the Patrol Car Event and Costume Contest will also be held on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the police station, 1076 Eagle Road.

In support of Shop With A Cop, officers will be collecting wrapping paper, gift wrapping supplies, scotch tape, name tags, bows, gift bags and tissue paper, stockings and personal care and hygiene products, including soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner, deodorant and non-expired canned food items.
In addition, ghostly goblins and ghouls, pirates and pretty princesses, witches and wizards are invited to take part in the department's costume contest.
Here's how it works: Bring your costumed children to the police station, have their photos taken and be entered into the department's Facebook costume contest. The top three vote getters will receive prizes.
Saturday is also Prescription Drug Take Back Day so bring your unused and expired medication and dispose of them at the police station.
