Here's Your Complete Guide To Newtown Celebrates America 250

NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — In celebration of the nation's 250th birthday, Newtown Borough is planning a full schedule of events and activities on Saturday, including the re-enactment of a Revolutionary War skirmish that happened in the center of town back in 1787.

Presented by the Newtown Historic Association and community partners, the event will transform Newtown's historic district into a living history experience.

"Newtown has been part of America's story since before there was a United States," said Glenn Blakely, event chair. "Newtown Celebrates America 250 brings together the people, places, and organizations that preserve that history and invites visitors to spend a day discovering the stories that shaped our community and our country."

Parking Restrictions Announced

There will be extra pedestrian traffic in the around Newtown Borough. Motorists are asked to be aware of pedestrians in the crosswalk and use caution. Road closures and parking restrictions will be in place so allow extra time.

Parking Restrictions Beginning at 7 a.m.

• No parking on South State Street between Penn Street and Centre Avenue on both sides of the street.
• No parking on Court Street between Penn Street and Centre Avenue

Road Closures From 9 a.m. To 12:30 p.m.

Motorist are asked to use Sycamore Street to enter Newtown Borough.

Here's What's Open Downtown

• The Centre Avenue Bridge will be open for traffic.
• The Washington Avenue Bridge will be open for traffic.
• Local businesses will be open for business.
• The Newtown Borough Municipal Parking Lots will be open for the event and local businesses
