High Speed Chase Of Burglary Suspect Ends In Lower Makefield

The man drove two cars and a bike in his attempt to get away.

UPPER MAKEFIELD, PA — A high speed chase of a burglary suspect ended in Lower Makefield last Thursday night, police said.

Jonathon Loran, 29, was noticed driving a stolen vehicle in Hamilton Township, New Jersey at around 6 p.m. and began flying along General Washington Memorial Boulevard at a high rate of speed, swerving around slower traffic, according to police.

When authorities responded to the area, they found the stolen vehicle, a black Honda Accord, abandoned at the Crossing Cooperative Nursery School, where Loran had then fled on foot, at around 6:20 p.m.

Loran eventually got a hold of a bicycle, which police later discovered he abandoned at 6:38 p.m. near River Road to get into a white Kia, authorities said.

Newtown and Lower Makefield police tracked Loran to Taylorsville Road, where they tried to get Loran to stop. Loran stopped the vehicle but got out and fled on foot, and was quickly caught, police said.

Police later determined that Loran was also responsible for a break-in at Seasons Garden Center, where he stole a bicycle and polo shirt.

He now faces charges of burglary, criminal trespass, receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and related counts.

Loran failed to post $50,000 bail and was remanded to Bucks County Correctional Facility.
