High Temperature Record Already Broken Tuesday

For the fourth day in a row, high temperatures broke records in the Philadelphia region.
According to the Inquirer, the high temperature Tuesday morning at 1:14 a.m. was 69 degrees, breaking the previous record of 66 degrees and extending the historic streak of warm weather another day.
Temperatures are expected to decrease during the day Tuesday, however. By nightfall, residents in the Philadelphia region can expect to wear a coat — with temperatures going down to the low 40s.

The record-breaking streak began Saturday, when a high of 69 degrees was recorded in Philadelphia. Then on Sunday, the official thermometer at Philadelphia Airport peaked at 71 degrees, followed by 70 degrees on Monday, according to Accuweather.
The previous high temperature on Dec. 13 was 65 degrees, which was set in 1923. Monday’s 70-degree weather broke a previous high of 69 degrees that was set in 1881.

High temperatures for this week will linger in the 60s and 50s until Friday, when a burst of cooler air comes our way, according to the Weather Channel. Temperatures on Friday and Saturday are expected to be in the 40s, the Weather Channel forecast says.
But then by early next week, the unseasonable weather returns, with a high in the mid-60s anticipated on Dec. 23, according to the Weather Channel.
Forecaster ‘Hurricane’ Schwartz predicts it could be in the 60s on Christmas Eve.
