Historic Wycombe House Scheduled For Sheriff's Sale In Early 2025

According to documents, the property owner owes more than $1 million, including sheriff's fees and associated interest costs.

WRIGHTSTOWN, PA — The historic Wycombe House on Mill Creek Road in Wrightstown is scheduled for sheriff's sale early next year, according to a notice posted on the building's front door.

According to the notice, the property owner owes more than $1 million, including sheriff's fees and associated interest costs with the property scheduled for a public sale on January 10, 2025.

The restaurant has been shuttered since late Dec.2023, when owner Jerry Driscoll announced its closure. It had been open barely a year when the closure was announced.

In the year or so leading up to the reopening of the business, Driscoll had poured $1.5 million into an extensive renovation of the property and the purchase of a liquor license. The renovation work included the addition of handicapped accessible bathrooms, a small pool room and a private dining room for birthday parties and special occasions.

Renovations also included what he called “an upscale” of the entire building, including rewiring the electrical system, the installation of new plumbing and addressing structural issues with the building. In addition, he had a new bar and new bar top installed along with new ceilings and a fresh coat of paint.

"It is with great sadness that we announce the closing," wrote Driscoll in a "farewell" posted on Facebook in late 2023. "We want to thank all of our wonderful guests and employees for supporting us over this past year. What began as a 142-seat restaurant on a sleepy stretch of Mill Creek Road grew into a place that has welcomed tens of thousands of guests and employed some truly wonderful and friendly people over the past year.

"We are extremely humbled that so many embraced our restaurant, the food and the charm and that we were able to last as long as we have," Driscoll wrote.

Early this year, it appeared the property was going to be sold, but in April the sale fell threw, according to media reports. At the time the property was listed for $2.4 million.

According to a real estate levy sheet posted by the sheriff's department, the plaintiff in the case is Stearns Bank NA. Named as defendants are The Barge LLC, Mulberry RE Holdings, and Quiet Man Holdings LLC. Quiet Man Holdings is a privately-owned company specializing in real estate investment and property management services. The Barge and Mulberry are both registered to Driscoll's address.
