Holiday Parade Registration Deadline is Nov. 11

If you want to participate in Newtown's annual Holiday Parade, better register before it's too late. Registration to participate in the parade ends Nov. 11.

The annual holiday parade, this year called McCaffrey’s Supermarket Holiday Parade, will be held Dec. 8 at 2 p.m.

Recognition will be given in the following categories: 

• Best Theme
• Best Decorated
• Most Creative
• Best Non Profit
• Best Musical Group
• Best Overall

A panel will review parade participants and pick the best based on presentation, creativity and theme.

The parade starts at The Stocking Works on South State Street and travels north to Washington Avenue. From there it goes down Sycamore Street and ends at Durham Road.

According to organizers, more than 50 groups and 1,800 people participated in last year's parade, which attracted thousands of spectators.
