Hottest Weather Of The Year Rolling Into Pennsylvania This Week

A heatwave is coming, with the hottest temperatures we've had so far this year, forecasters say.

After a somewhat mild Fourth of July weekend, get ready for summer to bring the heat.

A heatwave is on the way, and will hit Pennsylvania mid-week with some of the hottest temperatures this year, forecasters say. It could feel hotter than 100 degrees Wednesday, Thursday and Friday with the humidity, according to Accuweather.

After heavy rains overnight Monday into Tuesday, temperatures will hover in the 80s Tuesday.

On Wednesday, temperatures will go up to the 90s and stay that way during the day through the end of the week in areas surrounding Philadelphia.

Plan a trip to the pool or stay inside in the air conditioner Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, when temperatures could go up to 94 — and will feel even hotter due to the humidity, Accuweather says.

"An official heat wave is likely to occur along the I-95 corridor from Washington, D.C. to Philadelphia," AccuWeather Meteorologist Brett Rathbun said. "This will be the hottest weather so far this year."

Temperatures may linger in the 90s on Saturday, with a high in the 80s Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. West wind 3 to 8 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 93. Calm wind becoming west around 6 mph in the afternoon.

Wednesday Night: A slight chance of showers before 2am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 73. Light south wind. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Thursday: A slight chance of thunderstorms, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 8am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 94. Calm wind becoming west 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
