The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for moderate to heavy rain on New Year's Eve. Since it has been such a wet few months, the rain once again could cause localized flooding, the NWS warns.
According to the hourly forecast for the Philadelphia region, the rain will start as showers in the late afternoon. It will become heavier throughout the night, easing up around 2 a.m. or so, forecasters predict.

The Weather Channel says there is a 100 percent chance of rain from 6 p.m. through midnight, so bring your umbrellas as you make your way out to celebrate the New Year.
The good news: 2019 will start on a good note as far as the weather goes.

Monday's stormy conditions will make way for a pretty pleasant New Year's Day. It is expected to be clear, breezy and warm, with a high near 60 degrees. The unseasonable warmth will last just the day, with temperatures dipping back down to the 40s by Wednesday.
Here is your forecast for New Year's Eve and the first few days of 2019:
Today: Rain, mainly after 2pm. Patchy fog after 4pm. High near 49. Southeast wind 6 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Tonight: Rain, mainly before 3am. The rain could be heavy at times. Patchy fog before midnight. Temperature rising to around 55 by 5am. Southeast wind 13 to 17 mph becoming southwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
New Year's Day: Partly sunny, with a high near 60. Breezy, with a northwest wind 15 to 20 mph.
Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 33. Northwest wind 8 to 11 mph.
Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 41. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph.
Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32.
Thursday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 45.
Thursday Night: A chance of rain after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Friday: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 48. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
