Immigrant Rights Expert To Speak At Newtown Friends Meeting
"Immigrant Rights and Experience" to be Topic at Newtown Quaker Meetinghouse, 219 Court Street, at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday, January 19.

NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — Heidi Roux, immigrant and Doylestown resident, will speak on “Immigrant Rights and Experience” at the Newtown Quaker Meetinghouse, 219 Court Street, on Sunday, January 19 at 9:45 a.m.
Following the presentation, there will be worship in the manner of Friends at 11:00 a.m. with people speaking out of silence as they are moved to do so. The public is welcome at all events. (newtownfriendsmeeting.org).

Heidi began volunteering for Immigrant Rights Action in Bucks County and became its first paid Executive Director in 2022. Heidi's lived experience as an immigrant, along with her desire to uplift others, fuels her passion and dedication to this work. Heidi and her husband Miles enjoy living in a small farm setting with their school age son. Heidi is a volunteer administrator for the Bucks County Anti-Racism Coalition and volunteers for the Bucks County BookFest.
Roux immigrated to the U.S. during the civil war in her home country of El Salvador. She grew up in Washington, D.C., and became a U..S. citizen around the age of 18. She received a Bachelor’s of Science in Marketing from George Mason University and began working in market research. She went on to obtain a Master’s in Business Administration from Northern Arizona University during which she explored social entrepreneurship and the importance of nonprofit work.

Newtown Friends Meeting, co-founded by the Quaker artist and minister, Edward Hicks, in 1815, holds services every First Day (Sunday). During the school year, First Day classes for children and adults are at 9:45 a.m. and Meeting for Worship is at 11:00 a.m. Professional childcare is provided. All meetings are open to the public and visitors are warmly welcomed.
