Incumbent Newtown Borough Mayor Defeats Challenger In Primary

Incumbent mayor Charles Swartz defeated Bernie Sauer in the Republican primary for Newtown Borough Mayor.

NEWTOWN, PA — Incumbent mayor Charles Swartz defeated Bernie Sauer in the Republican primary for Newtown Borough Mayor. Swartz received 179 votes to Sauer's 85 votes.

Sauer in February started the group “Newtown Area Residents Can Save Lives” to push Newtown’s elected and police officials to use the Narcan. Shortly after, he announced his bid for mayor.

In the Borough Council Democratic primary for Ward 1, Nicole Rodowicz received 138 votes and Marvin Cohen received 138 votes. Republican Paul Salvatore received 110 votes.
