Independent Bookstore Day Celebration Planned At Newtown Bookshop

"Independent Bookstore Day," where bookshops across the country host special events, will be celebrated locally in Newtown.

The Newtown Bookshop is offering promotions, raffles, special events and refreshments to mark the day on April 30.

One of day's highlights will be a visit from children’s author Lauren Magaziner. Starting at 1 p.m., she will talk about her newest book, “Pilfer Academy: A School So Bad It's Criminal.” She will also lead a craft and sign copies of her book.

The event is free and open to all.
