Independent Documentary Night To Be Held At Newtown Theatre

This is a great local event for those who love documentaries.

NEWTOWN, PA — If you're a fan of documentaries, then mark your calendar for Sunday, Feb. 3.

The Newtown Theatre will host its first-ever Independent Documentary Night that evening starting at 7:30 p.m. The night will feature thought-provoking documentaries from around the country, according to the theater.

  • "Do We Belong?" — An Indian immigrant is killed in a senseless hate crime, leaving his wife to grapple with whether America is truly her home.
  • "Family Rewritten" — Camilla identifies as a typical middle-class American teenager until the thread that holds her family together suddenly snaps.
  • "Still Afloat" — A look at the destruction Hurricane Maria left behind and how Puerto Ricans who moved to Florida are adjusting to the change.
  • "Kwabena" — A journey through the discovery and revelation of a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
  • "Texas Snow" — Three Texas cotton farmers discuss the issues threatening the industry and their livelihood.
  • "Gamers Outreach" — The power of video games is helping hospitalized kids and young adults feel a little less scared and isolated.

Admission is $5 at the door and free for theatre members.
