Inspirational Council Rock North Student Honored With GNEC's ACE Award

Council Rock North senior was honored on May 19 with The Greater Newtown Exchange Club's Accepting the Challenge of Excellence award

Council Rock North senior Callie Goodman has never had it easy, starting with brain surgery at age three. Complications set in again in 2014 while Callie was leading an active student life at Council Rock North and a second complex brain surgery was required. Callie was not going to let the trauma of this event and the attendant school absences slow her active life at Council Rock North. She rallied just a few weeks after this difficult surgery, returning to her classwork and as an active participant in her Lacrosse team.

Callie is described by her school mentors as an inspiration to all, and that is why she was picked to receive the Greater Newtown Exchange Club’s Accepting the Achievement of Excellence (ACE) award at the club’s May 19 meeting. Despite the problems she has faced, Callie has continued to participate in a wide variety of high school sports including cross country and track, Lacrosse and Ski Club. Her academic record is no less impressive including National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society memberships, Rho Kappa Social Studies honors, three years of Distinguished Honor Roll listings , being named Student of the Month and receiving Council Rock North’s Outstanding Achievement Award.

Callie lives her life knowing each day is a gift and her amazing spirit has endured her to faculty and friends. Her future plans include college and eventual work in the sales/marketing and business management areas. She has been accepted at a number of colleges including Penn State, Syracuse, Florida, South Carolina and Alabama.
