Jake's Eatery: New Restaurant, Familiar Face
Fans of Jake's Eatery in Richboro, rejoice! The popular restaurant is opening up a Newtown location.
Newtown foodies have new reason to lick their lips. Jake’s Eatery is coming to town, bringing with it the same quality, service, and cozy atmosphere that diners have enjoyed in its Richboro location since 1991.
“I knew that Newtown was in need of this type of restaurant, so after tossing around the idea for several years, it seemed like a great idea to open up in Newtown,” said owner Stephen G. Jacobs.
The new restaurant is expected to open next month and will be located on Cambridge Lane, a few doors down from Steven Robbins Eyewear and across the street from Dunkin Donuts.
Voted Best of Bucks in 2010, Jake’s Eatery offers several key ingredients for which folks in Newtown have hungered. For starters, it’s family friendly.
“Newtown has a lot of pizza places and fine dining, but not a lot in-between,” Jacobs said. “Our prices are extremely reasonable -- you can take your family out to eat at Jake’s and not get clobbered on price.”
While you’re enjoying the low prices, you can also expect your meal to be high quality.
“My philosophy has always been great food and great service at a great price,” said Jacobs. “Everything we serve -- sauces, gravies, soups -- it’s all made fresh to order.”
With a menu ranging from grilled cheese and burgers to salad and seafood, Jake’s has something for everyone -- especially the breakfast lovers in the bunch.
“One thing that makes us unique to the area is the fact that we’ll serve breakfast every day until 3 p.m. A lot of kids love pancakes and French toast; when schools have half days we tend to get really busy,” said Jacobs.

Jacobs said the location selected is perfect for his establishment.
“We looked at several locations, and this one seemed great. It‘s easy to find, has plenty of parking, and it has nice property managers and landlords, which is important,” Jacobs said.
Jake’s will be open by early April, serving breakfast and lunch while they settle in. If all goes according to plan, the restaurant will offer dinner service, too. The restaurant is almost fully staffed, but Newtown job seekers can contact the Richboro location to apply.
Although Jacobs will arrange for a grand opening in time, he’s staging a soft opening at first while he works out any kinks.
“We’ll make a splash, maybe have some coupons and ads, but I believe the product and service will sell itself,” said Jacobs. “We’ve already got a good buzz going around Newtown.”
In other words, when you smell the scent of fresh pancakes wafting from Cambridge Lane this spring, just follow your nose to Jake's Eatery.
