Jordan Koseski is Troop 99's Newest Eagle Scout

Eagle Scout Jordan Koseski completed a service project to mark the graves of 3 Civil War soldiers from the 71st Pennsylvania Infantry.

Jordan Koseski recently earned the highest rank in scouting- that of Eagle Scout. The Troop 99 scout led a group of volunteers in a project to place grave markers at the resting place of three Civil War soldiers who have been buried in unmarked graves at Laurel Hill Cemetery for over 150 years as his Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project.

Jordan learned of the unmarked graves from Tom Chaar who is a re-enactor with the 71st Pennsylvania. He contacted the hall of records to obtain their military service records and other information needed by the Veterans Administration and then petitioned for the bronze markers for the graves of Evan Edwards, Irwin Wallace and Robert Parrish. Funds for the project came from donations with the largest coming from the 71st Pennsylvania re-enactors. Once the markers were placed, two ceremonies were held to dedicate the markers. The first, attended by members of the community, was held on Memorial Day. The second was on July 16, 2016 during which the 71st Pennsylvania re-enactors fired a salute over each grave to honor the men buried there.

Jordan serves his troop currently as Assistant Senior Patrol Leader; previously he was a Troop Guide teaching younger boys the skills needed for scouting. He was a member of the Troop 99 contingent which won the saber at the West Point Scoutmaster’s Council Camporee.
