July 4 Weekend Forecast For PA: Will Storms Ruin The Fun?

The parties are scheduled, the fireworks are ready to go off, and the beach trips are planned.

But first: Will the weather cooperate?

While it doesn't look to be a washout by any means, there is the risk of thunderstorms throughout the holiday and weekend. The chance of storms starts today, in the afternoon and evening.

On July 4, there will be some trouble spots of thunderstorm activity, according to forecasters.

That day, most of the storms will occur between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. and may only last about an hour. Storms are likely in Pennsylvania and parts of New Jersey, according to AccuWeather.

In addition to the risk of thunderstorms, it will be hot and humid. Daytime highs in the upper 80s and 90s with even higher heat indices are predicted through the weekend in the Philadelphia region.

The National Weather Service predicts a chance of thunderstorms daily through Sunday.

Independence Day: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 9am and 3pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. Calm wind becoming east around 6 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Thursday Night: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9pm, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. Southeast wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
