Keith Spencer's 'Brothers on Broadway' Coming To Newtown Feb. 1

The celebratory tribute to Broadway's African-American leading men will be held Feb. 1 at BCCC's Newtown campus.

Bucks County Community College will present Keith Spencer in “Brothers on Broadway” during a performance at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1. It's part of the Bucks Live! cultural events series.

"This one-man show backed by an all-star band is a celebratory tribute to Broadway’s African-American leading men, including legends such as Sammy Davis Jr., Cab Calloway, Ben Vereen, Paul Robeson, Gregory Hines, and others," according to an event announcement.

Spencer has appeared on stage from Philadelphia’s Prince Theater to the Broadway tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Music of the Night. He has performed in Bristol Riverside Theatre’s Summer Concert Musicale series, including one-man performances in the Nat King Cole tribute For Sentimental Reasons, and the big band Cole Porter revue Too Darn Hot!

The musical journey will commemorate Black History Month. It will include well-known selections from shows such as Porgy and Bess, Ragtime, Pippin, The Phantom of the Opera, Hamilton and more.

Tickets for the performance are $15 for general admission. It is free for Bucks County Community College students with current ID.

A limited number of VIP tickets are available for $20. The VIP ticket includes a preconcert reception to meet the artist. The 6 p.m. reception includes light hors d’oeuvres, two glasses of wine or beer, and reserved seating. VIP ticketholders must be age 21 or older. Tickets can be purchased at www.bucks.edu/tickets or at the door. For group sales, call 215-968-8469.

The performance will be held at the Kevin and Sima Zlock Performing Arts Center, located in the Gateway Center building on the campus at 275 Swamp Rd., Newtown.
